About Pelham Art Center
Pelham Art Center was founded in 1970 and is a non-profit multi-arts organization whose mission is to give area residents and visitors a place and the opportunity to see, study and experience the arts in a community setting. Located in southern Westchester County, many artists and more than 16,000 people are served by free and affordable education and public programs that include: classes and workshops, exhibitions and public programs, outreach, and special events. The Center owns and occupies 5,500 s.f. facility in downtown Pelham, NY, has five full-time staff, three dozen artist contractors, seasonal staff, and an active Board of Directors.
Teen Engagement Coordinator – Contracted 6 month position – 10-14 hours per weekend
Through specific grant funding, Pelham Art Center has created a 6 month Teen Engagement Coordinator position. This role will be engaged with PAC for 24 weeks for 10-14 hours per week (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays) and will be paid a total stipend of $7,000. Ideal hours are Fridays 3-6pm, Saturdays 11-3PM, Sundays 11-3PM. These hours can fluctuate depending on specific programming schedules.
This person will assist Pelham Art Center staff and teaching artists to engage and grow the current teen program initiatives which include: FREE teen open studios, a teen artist council, and interns. This position will work closely with teens during the Friday Open Studio program (Fridays 3:30-5:30) and with intern management on Saturdays and Sundays (11-3PM). This new hire will engage with interns and teen volunteers at weekend public programs to lead, engage, educate, and inspire young people about art. Some front desk administration and social media assistance will also be required.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for art education and have the ability to inspire and lead young people. College and graduate school students are encouraged to apply for real world non-profit art education and administration experience. This could work well for a working artist or freelancer looking to work with local youth. Some knowledge of art supplies, materials and techniques is required. This is an in person position onsite at Pelham Art Center in Pelham, NY.

- Must have keen interest in art, education and leadership.
- Ability to interact effectively with all kinds of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Effective communicator of ideas and instructions.
- Can be a current College student, working artist, creative professional
*Approx 10-14 hour per week, Fridays 3-6pm, Saturdays 11-3PM, Sundays 11-3PM, can fluctuate as scheduled in advance. PAC is closed Memorial Day Weekend and weekend of July 4.
** Estimated Contract Dates January 13/21 – July 15/22, 2023 (approximately 25 weekends).
Compensation: $7,000 stipend.

Internships - Applications are Open for January-June 2023!
Pelham Art Center welcomes high school and college students to engage in internships. Internships offer an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and learn valuable skills while contributing to a community-based nonprofit art center. Interns can focus on program implementation, special events, research, administration, and more!
Interns at Pelham Art Center are asked to make a commitment to a 6 month internship of about 4 hours per week (appx. 90 hours total).
The next internship time period will be January-June 2023, and an internship shift from 11-3PM on Saturdays or Sundays onsite at Pelham Art Center will be required.
Interns are also encouraged to assist in leading the newly formed Teen Artist Council (see below) who will be working towards building public programs in 2023 such as: Careers in the Arts panels in January & February 2023, Curating an exhibition is April 2023, and driving public programs such as the Art Happening, Community Art Day, ArtsFest, the Pelham Juneteenth Celebration, and more.
Teen Artist Council: Started Sept. 2022 - You can still join!
Join the first year of Pelham Art Center’s new Teen Artist Council! The Teen Artist Council gathers and engages young people interested in creating teen-centric art programs. This will include selecting candidates to speak on a Careers in the Arts Panel series in Winter 2023, curating a gallery exhibition at PAC in April 2023, and leading select public programs. This group will meet 15 times this year in a hybrid capacity, on the last Wednesday afternoon of the month and the 2nd Saturday of the month in the mid morning. This is a program where teens interested in art can communicate, learn, and enjoy the processes of creative expression. This program will be overseen by the PAC professional staff and guest teaching artists, and participants are accepted on a rolling basis through 2022!
In addition to the Teen Artist Council, Pelham Art Center is hosting Free Open Studios for Teens (materials are provided!) these are happening 3:30-5:3oPM on these dates:
