Education & Programs Coordinator

The Pelham Art Center is seeking a strategic, creative thinker and strong communicator to provide support for Pelham Art Center programs including; education, gallery, and public events. Founded in 1970, Pelham Art Center is a non-profit educational and cultural institution committed to providing access to study, experience and appreciate the arts. The position is located at our gallery and educational facility, with occasional off site work,  in downtown Pelham, serving 16,000 people in lower Westchester and its environs. This is a part-time position, currently 20 hours/week (Sundays 11-4pm required and flexible hours throughout week, presence at public events also required). This position has room to grow for the right candidate.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, and working in collaboration to support education, gallery, and communication staff, this position is a key role in PAC’s program development with public facing interactions as part of a leading arts organization in Westchester County.  Generally, the Education & Program Coordinator will be a key administrator at the front desk helping with email correspondence, letter writing, database and constituent administration, phone duties, education registrations, memberships, some marketing and overall  programming support. The Education & Programs Coordinator is vital in the communication between departments and assists with generating ideas within a small staff.

Requirements: Must love art. Education, gallery, or non-profit art experience required. Tech savvy, with professional communication and writing ability required. Knowledge of graphic design  or website maintenance is a plus. Must be a clear and effective communicator with a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. Proficiency with all Microsoft office applications and GSuite are required. A background in the arts is preferred, and interest in art is a must. The Education & Programs Coordinator will be a representative of the Art Center at special events such as gallery openings, fundraisers, and public programs. Flexibility will be built into the hours for this role. The successful candidate will be a flexible, team player, curious, organized, with a desire to learn and a sense of humor. The right candidate will have demonstrated success working with colleagues from various areas of expertise and backgrounds.

 

Details: This position has flexible hours (estimated 20 hours/week) – the position can be 5 hours/ 4 days per week including Sundays 11-4pm, depending on candidate’s availability and the Art Center programmatic needs, balanced with PAC public events. PAC public events are usually Thursday evenings or Saturday afternoons. This position aims to start March 1, 2022 and a detailed schedule of the upcoming 6 months will be discussed during the interview process.  The Education & Programs Coordinator and household family members will be eligible for complimentary classes at the Art Center. and parking pass for Pelham will be provided. PAC will provide health insurance, including vision and dental at a reasonable cost to the employee and additional benefits. The position offers paid time off work for both vacation and sick time, as well as a generous holiday schedule. Certain additional specialty discounts may also be available.

 

An annual salary of $22,000. Is being offered for this position.

Internships

Pelham Art Center welcomes high school and college students to engage in internships. Internships offer an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and learn valuable skills while contributing to a community based nonprofit art center.

Interns can focus on marketing, program implementation, database management, special events, research, archives, website maintenance, office administration, and development.

Internships are unpaid. Academic internships are welcome, and current interns may take one art class at the Pelham Art Center free of charge.
