Drawing the Figure
The figure can feel daunting and be an overly complicated structure to capture and represent on paper or canvas. In this class we will be using photographs as a reference to learn how to deconstruct the human form into simple, uncomplicated shapes and forms. We will learn how light, shade and perspective interplay with form and shape by using pencil, charcoal and chalk pastels. We will discuss simple anatomy and use both unclothed and clothed images of figures in order to be able to understand how the body expresses itself. By the end of the class you will have a greater understanding of the figure. This class is for beginners and intermediate students.
