Young artists will travel back in time to study the works of Renaissance artist, Michelangelo! Michelangelo Buonarroti is recognized as one of the most creative and influential artists in the history of Western art. His most celebrated creations have become icons of world culture: the monumental marble David in Florence; the astonishing frescoes in the Sistine Chapel and the soaring dome of Saint Peter’s Basilica, both in Rome. In this class, students will learn basic drawing techniques and compose studies of the human body with the focus being on hands, feet, legs, and the face. Once the studies are complete, students will work on a painting of the full figure with the knowledge they gained from their drawings.
