Winter Class

Sculpture: Metal & Wire
Wire sculpture is an easy way to introduce two important art concepts to children: Line and space. Line is an intuitive and basic art concept that allows people to express ideas in a simple way. Space is another basic art concept that typically employs depth and perspective to create the illusion of 3 dimensional space. This class is influenced by Alexander Calder who was an American sculptor known for his innovative mobiles. Students will explore the tools and techniques of wire sculpture, with examples of Calder’s work and understand his use of shapes and lines to create exciting, balanced, kinetic creations. Projects will include mobiles, jewelry, metal work, and more!
