    Oil and Thinner Cup  (small container)

    Blue Paper Towels (Home Depot)


    11” x 14” canvas or canvas board ( before coming to class, tone the canvas with a light wash – pale in color – using raw umber mixed with a very small amount of Gamasol. Please do this a few days in advance so that the paint is dry) Any questions, contact me –


    Wood Palette or Grey Matters Paper Palette

    Masterson stay-wet palette seal box or any airtight container to seal your mixed paint for the following session.



    Bristle brushes , filbert shape in a variety of sizes.

This workshop is an introduction to a classical method of painting a still life, with foundational techniques to inspire and explore what makes a painting successful. Though a step-by-step process starting with the Underpainting to Color Underpainting to Final Layer, concepts such as composition, light and shade, gradation of value to create a three-dimensional form, color mixing and painting techniques will be discussed.
