Pelham Art Center Teen Engagement Programs

FREE Open Studios every Friday from 3:30 – 5:30 pm, no registration required!

The 2023 Teen Open Studios start Friday, September 15th and continue throughout the year. All are welcome!

This is a meaningful time to relax, create, and connect with peers and professional artists! It provides teens with a chance to explore mediums and techniques, and to talk with peers and professionals about their larger plans for the future. The Pelham Art Center provides art materials and guidance, and a safe space for teens to pursue their artistic passions. Our staff will also provide guidance for new techniques, and materials, and projects. Teens have come to work on independent projects for AP portfolios, college applications, or to simply free create in the art studios of Pelham Art Center!

The Teen Artist Council gathers and engages young people interested in creating teen-centric art programs. This will include selecting candidates to speak on a Careers in the Arts Panel series, curating a gallery exhibition at PAC in April 2024, and leading select public programs. This group will meet the second Saturday of the month in person at the Pelham Art Center, and on the last Wednesday of the month in a hybrid capacity over Zoom. This is a program where teens interested in art can communicate, learn, and enjoy the processes of creative expression. This program will be overseen by the PAC professional staff and guest teaching artists, and participants are accepted on a rolling basis through 2023 and 2024 – Sign Up Here!

This year the Teen Artist Council’s gallery exhibition will take place from April 25th through May 12th. We are currently seeking submissions of artwork from artists of all ages! This open call will be accepting entries until February 7th. If you are interested in having your work featured, you can click here for more information and to fill out our submission form.

Pelham Art Center welcomes high school and college students to engage in internships. Internships offer an opportunity to gain hands-on work experience and learn valuable skills while contributing to a community-based nonprofit art center. Interns can focus on program implementation, special events, research, administration, and more!

Our interns are asked to make a commitment of 5 months, during which you will be working at the Pelham Art Center for 4 hours each weekend. (This totals about 80 hours over the course of your time with us!) This is a paid position, and interns will be provided with a stipend for their time at PAC.

The current internship will run from October 2023 to February 2024. The following period will be from March to July 2024, and shifts will take place from 11am to 3pm on either Saturday or Sunday.

Apply to be one of our Spring 2024 interns here!
