June 21, 2023
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
PELHAM, NY As part of its mission to make art accessible through programming, exhibitions, and education, the Pelham Art Center is proud to announce its upcoming evening with Beth Atiavila Mudaki, the “African Storyteller.” This all-ages event will take place at Pelham Art Center on June 21, from 5:30-6:30pm.
“I consider my gift to be storytelling, through which I share literature and critical thinking skills to young minds around the world,” shared Mudaki, who is currently in residence at the French-American School of New York as a cultural exchange visitor. “I have lived and worked in several countries—from Africa to South-East Asia to Europe, but always, I find my way back home in Kenya, where my spirit thrives,” she says.
Mudaki’s background is in international education, content creation, yoga instruction, and storytelling. Through the course of the one-hour program, Beth will share a slide presentation on the landscape, culture, and art of Kenya, then guide the audience through a hands-on activity demonstration. She will remain on-hand after the program to answer questions and visit with those in attendance. This all-ages event is free of charge, and no advance registration is required.
