Folk Art: Bomba!

October 1, 2023

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Please join us for Bomba! – a fun afternoon of Puerto Rican Drumming & Dance on Sunday, October 1 from 1-3PM!

Pelham Art Center welcomes internationally-acclaimed performer/educator and Bronx native Jose Ortiz, a.k.a. Dr. Drum, to lead the community in a Bomba music celebration. Bomba is an African-derived music and dance tradition developed in Puerto Rico. With call-and-response singing, drumming and dance, BombaYo will kindle the joy of this Afro-Puerto Rican art form and ignite the ancestral rhythms of Bomba.

Following the music celebration, “Bomba drum” coloring sheets will be available for attendees to color in & take home with them!
