Chinese New Year

Virtual Celebration with Jane Chang

Monday, February 8th | 3:30pm EST

Chinese New Year is a transitional Chinese holiday that starts with the new moon of the first day of the Lunar New Year. Each year is represented by one of twelve zodiac animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig. February 12, 2021 marks the 4719th year in Chinese calendar, the year of Ox(cow).

Artist and educator Jane Chang will share her knowledge of the rich history and traditions of the Chinese New Year holiday, followed by a Chinese brush painting demonstration.Attendees can follow along with Jane’s brush painting demonstration from home using ink or watercolors on paper, or simply observe the folk art fun.
