Pelham Art Center is the first to host an exhibition of artwork in the USPS Art Project. The USPS Art Project is on view at the Pelham Art Center Gallery August 1-August 31, 2020.
The USPS Art Project was started by artist Christina Massey as a call to action for her fellow artists to support the United States Postal Service amidst the COVID-19 crisis. The concept is simple, artists each begin artworks for their collaboration partners to finish, sending them to each other by mail. It is designed to help artists feel connected while practicing social distancing, and in doing so, supporting the financially struggling USPS at the same time. Free and open for everyone to participate and interpret for their own creative process, the collaborations range from works on paper, to miniature quilts to even tiny ceramic pots.
This will be the first physical exhibition of USPS Art Project artworks since it first began in April. Pelham Art Center invites visitors to view the exhibition in groups no larger than 8 people this August. All current health guidelines must be followed. The Pelham Art Center Gallery is located at 155 Fifth Avenue, Pelham, NY 10803. Summer gallery hours are: Tuesday-Friday 11am-4pm, Saturday 12pm-4pm, Closed Sunday and Monday (excluding Sunday, August 9th when Pelham Art Center is open for Community Art Day). After exhibiting at Pelham Art Center in August, the USPS Art Project will travel to Ely Center of Contemporary Art. This is a nonjuried exhibition; artworks are accepted on a rolling submission basis until capacity is reached at each respective exhibition space. Artists who exceed a location’s capacity have the option to enter into the following location.
