Studio Cafe – It was a Great Party!

Over 220 people attended Studio Cafe on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Pelham Art Center. Attendees purchased $20,000 in art, taking advantage of an amazing collecting opportunity that featured mid career and emerging artists. A robust silent auction and additional donations made for a very successful night. This fundraising event brought the community together to support art, education and free outreach programs.

The night began with VIP entry at 6:00PM featuring an art preview/early buying opportunity with prosecco and passed hors d’oeuvres. Beverage sponsors included Diner Brew Cider made in Mt Vernon, Forty Ounce wine (the sustainable wine from the Loire Valley) and Tanteo tequila cocktails.

A special sale of 25 works were all made on 1×1’ wood panels included artists Cey Adams, Alexi Rutsch-Brock, Bob Clyatt, Dennis Redmoon Darkeem, Katharine Dufault, Kate Fauvell, Musa Hixson, Sara Jimenez, Satish Joshi, Anki King, Barry Mason, Christina Massey, Rick Midler, Michael Mut, Christina Nicodema, Arlene Rush, Isabelle Schneider, Scott Seabolt, Susan Sass, and more.

The party continued with live music by exceptional jazz guitarist Dan Haedicke and sultry vocals by Sarah Rayani. This contemporary duo combined classic jazz with a contemporary twist with covers plus some old school hip hop. DJ Dick at Nite – aka Dick Burroughs the Brooklyn based Writer, DJ, Curator, and TV Personality — spun funky tunes to keep the party hopping.

Over 25 local restaurants provided their signature foods including culinary spreads from the following excellent local restaurant sponsors AJs, Alvin and Friends, B&Bs, Bangkok City, Caffé Regatta, Cantina Lobos, DeCiccos, Elia Taverna, Encore Bistro, Fleetwood Pastries, Flowerbake by Angela, La Fontanella, J Café, La Parisienne Manor Market, Modern Restaurant, Pelham Pizza, Pelville Coffee and Pastry, Prime 16, Provisions Bakery, Rock and Ramen, Rockwells, Sakura, Sergios, Stan’s, Sweet Potatoes Restaurant, The Bread Factory, and Villagios.

The online art auction was facilitated using Paddle8. The collection included works by Ellen Ball, Marylyn Dintenfass, Shepard Fairey, Patricia Fabricant, Charles Fazzino, Heather Fazzino, Frank Guida, Satish Joshi, David Kramer, Betty Tompkins, and more. Collectors unable to attend the party were still able to purchase art to support the Art Center.

Party goers were able to see art in progress highlighting our Art Center teaching artists. A live model posed for teachers Zafiro Acevedo, Frank Guida, and Donna Ross. They used a variety of mediums to render artwork; these works were sold during the event.
